Objective:

The Staff Accountant performs accounting activities as described below under the general supervision of the CFO or designee.  Must perform according to the generally accepted accounting practices as well as company guidelines and policies in a timely and efficient manner.  Responsible for the accuracy of records and transactions.  Is responsible for safeguarding documents and information, as appropriate. Area of Expertise:

Based on education and/or experience in the accounting field, performs activities related to:  accumulation, classification, maintenance, reconciliation, consolidation and general accounting of financial activities such as and not limited to accounts payable, accounts receivable, credit and collections.

Typical Roles/Area of Focus:

Incumbent’s responsibilities will generally focus on one or more of the following:

• General Accounting
• General Ledger
• Accounts Payables/ Accounts Receivables
• Government Accounting

Functions:  

• Assist with monthly, quarterly, and year end reporting

• Compiles, classifies financial information and documents.
• Performs various financial transactions, including accounts and bank reconciliation.
• Ensures accuracy of financial transactions performed, information and records.
• May prepare various financial reports, including balance sheets.
• Performs cash tendering.
• Ensures timely delivery of financial activities assigned.
• Collaborates with and/or may manage process improvement projects.
• Maintains close communication with other Finance Department staff members and provides support in day-to-day activities.
• May carry out other and diverse assignments that relate to the accounting function and which require application of accounting and financial principles and skills.

Level of Responsibility:

• Although limited experience, performs with limited supervision and guidance routine and non-routine accounting transactions.
• Provide effective support to Finance’s team as it relates to projects and activities, including financial closing processes, audits, inventory management and budget review.

• Understands key concepts in accounting practices and controls, but may need guidance and direction based on complexity of functions and transactions to be performed.

Typical Educational Requirements:

• AA/AS degree w/1–3+ years experience
• BA, Accounting, 0-1 year experience
